Lisa Münter

Lisa Munter obtained her PhD in Biochemistry in 2007 at the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany, for which she received the best PhD thesis award of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Science. She joined McGill University in 2012 and holds an FRQS Junior 2 award. In her lab, she developed new lines of research on the molecular changes leading to lzheimer’s disease involving rhomboid proteases and cholesterol transport. 

Lisa started the Win4Science initiative in 2017 to support members of underrepresented groups in the Life Sciences. Win4Science is a group of students and PIs who organizes seminars to educate on unconscious bias and inclusiveness, and run a mentorship program to provide role models currently comprising over 70 mentees and 20 mentors. Importantly, Win4Science raises funds to financially support conference travel of trainees with any caretaking responsibilities. Lisa received the Maude Abbott award of McGill’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences for community engagement and teaching in 2021.
